Top Designer Rosa Clará and the New 2020 Collection

Whether in the jammed packed La Llotja de Mar venue or watching live steam from far away, viewers were fascinated with the beauty of the Rosa Clará 2019 Fashion show in Barcelona.

After the excitement has settled, Bridal Times had the great opportunity to catch up with Rosa Clará about her success and 2020 Collection.

Rosa Clará

Congratulations on the beautiful Rosa Clará Fashion Show at the Valmont Barcelona Bridal Week. Can you give us a little behind the scenes look about the work it took to put on such a stunning fashion show?

We start planning the runway show a year in advance — seeking inspiration, selecting the first dresses, finding the right venue — and then work on the concept, coming up with the staging, atmosphere, lighting, soundtrack and hair and make-up and, finally, casting the models and doing the dress fittings. In parallel, we finalise the collection and work on finishing touches like shoes and accessories.

Not only was the fashion show a success, but the Rosa Clará brand won the Elle Lifetime Achievement Award. What key factors have made Rosa Clará one of the most leading brands in the bridal industry?

It requires enormous dedication and effort from the highly motivated, top-class team around me, all while setting realistic objectives and, above all, creating a differentiated product. Those factors have been the keys to our success. I never imagined when I opened my first store in 1995 that I’d achieve so much, personally and professionally.

What would you say is a signature style of Rosa Clará wedding gowns?

Rosa Clará has always been synonymous with innovation, craftsmanship, fabric quality and contemporary bridal styling.

Tell us about the Rosa Clará 2020 collections and what new trends have been implemented.

It’s a collection influenced by Art Deco and features linear lace and microbeading with an emphasis on delicate guipure lace, macramé and Valenciennes lace edging. Other stand-out features in this collection include a new silk satin fabric, crepe gowns that follow every line of the bride’s figure and an exquisite extra-soft tulle that, when combined with multi-godets, gives the skirts wonderful volume.

Are there any new favorite or unique features we should know about?

The way we’ve worked with the patterns is very different this time, as we’ve included lots of underlayers. The necklines exude sensuality, though we’ve also got halter and polo neck options, while our jumpsuits create a beautifully minimalist look.

What is a good piece of advice to brides who are searching for of the perfect gown?

We want them to feel ‘this is me’, to be comfortable with the dress they choose. They shouldn’t let others influence them.

When is the next opportunity for European bridal retailers to see the 2020 collection?

Our 2020 collection is due to reach our stores in June.
