The U.S.-based design house has acquired its operations in the United Kingdom. This year, bridal stockists can look forward to an elevated and couture experience.
2017 was a great year for Maggie Sottero Designs. Building on the acclaimed debut in 2016 of its third line, Rebecca Ingram, and the authorization of several new international boutiques, the design house celebrated its twentieth anniversary with its employees, partners, and brides—setting the stage for more global initiatives than ever before.
This season, Maggie Sottero Designs looks to another milestone—the acquisition of its second-largest market in the United Kingdom. Paul Buist, former president of The Bridal Company UK, announced his retirement, and Maggie Sottero Designs has chosen to procure operations as part of its global strategy and expansion.
“This is an exciting time for the Maggie Sottero Designs brand in Europe,” says Tom Manning, President, Maggie Sottero Designs. “Thanks to Paul’s leadership, the UK has become a key international market with growing representation for our three lines. We’d like to extend our sincere gratitude to Paul for his support and advocacy over the years, wishing him the very best in his next chapter.”
Since its launch in 1997, Maggie Sottero Designs has become one of the most recognized bridalwear brands in the world, offering romantic and impeccably tailored gowns at a variety of attainable price points. In the European market, bridal retailers appreciate the diversity of style and branding across the Maggie Sottero, Sottero and Midgley, and Rebecca Ingram labels—each catering to the modern bride’s high expectations of design, quality, price, and the boutique experience.
“Since Day 1, Maggie Sottero Designs has been committed to providing best-in-class product and service to our expanding stockist base,” says Stacy Hughes, Global Business Development Director at Maggie Sottero Designs. “Europe is as an exceptional bridal market, housing some of the world’s top boutiques and client services. We’re honored to be represented in these fine establishments, and we look forward to developing the market further with on-trend and in-demand products and initiatives for our valued buyers.”
In transitioning to UK operations for 2018, Maggie Sottero Designs has turned its marketing efforts to onsite show and media. This fall at the Harrogate Bridal Show, stockists and media partners can expect a high-end production—an extension of the National Bridal Market Chicago experience, featuring a buyer boutique, a meet-and-greet with U.S. representatives, and, of course, runway presentations of the latest Maggie Sottero Designs collections.
“We’re excited to bring a fresh, integrated, and couture presentation to our guests and set a course for the new Maggie Sottero Designs Limited,” says Christina Blanchette, VP, Sales and Marketing at Maggie Sottero Designs. “This is our chance to develop relationships with stockists directly, get to know the market firsthand as we expand our global business.”
Maggie Sottero Designs will be at the Queen’s Suite in Harrogate, joining a powerhouse lineup of brands that offer classic and contemporary looks to bridal buyers and their discerning clientele. Stockists can look forward to browsing premium Maggie Sottero Designs gowns, including an expanded “Curve” capsule of styles tailored for coverage and support.
Please stay tuned for additional market information in the coming months. If you have or will be in the market for couture bridalwear at popular price points, Maggie Sottero Designs Limited is your brand-new hub for style, service, and occasion.
