Bridal Times had the opportunity to catch up with ENZOANI artistic & lead designer, ‘KC’ Lin to tell us more a little more about his background, the beginnings of Enzoani and the brand.

How did Enzoani begin? Who founded it and where was it founded?
The Enzoani collection was founded in 2006, and was truly a collaborative endeavour from the beginning. I partnered with our CEO Mary Nguyen and a handful of others based out of Southern California, and together our small but mighty team learned everything from the ground up, through trial and error, support from our peers, and sheer hard work. I’m incredibly proud of how much our entire team has grown together, and over fifteen years later, we now operate out of several offices worldwide in service of our amazing retail partners all around the globe.

Tell us more about your previous career path. Where did you study etc.? How did these prior paths lead you to become the Artistic Director and lead designer for Enzoani?
After graduating from London College of Fashion I went on to collect nearly 20 years of experience in bridal design! Leading the design team at Enzoani has brought continuous excitement and challenges as we strive to improve and expand on our prior work and accomplishments, cementing Enzoani’s standout status and revered reputation in the world of bridal.

What do you offer brides across all three of the collections?
Enzoani offers brides innovative, trend-setting design that transcends time. We focus on creating a superior inner construction that makes the gowns lighter and more comfortable than ever before, while maintaining the signature glamour and high quality that we’ve come to be known for.
Our Blue by Enzoani collection that launched in 2007 epitomizes the quintessential, classic bride by offering style that endures time and tradition without forsaking fashion and price. The collection is timelessly elegant with romantic lace designs, sweet and sexy silhouettes, and a fit and finish like no other. It perfectly complements the flagship Enzoani label, although I may be biased!
Our newest collection, Love, launched in 2021 and represents a “back to basics” approach to bridal design, celebrating the beauty in simplicity with a focus on sleek, clean and minimalist silhouettes featuring stretch georgette, crepe and Mikado styles with subtle yet ultra-romantic detailing. Love is like our youngest sister in the Enzoani family. They are young, they are cute, they are full of character and have that modern edge. Launching the Love collection, I truly feel like the Enzoani family is complete now.

What kick-starts your creative juices when it comes to designing a new piece or the next collection? Can inspiration sometimes arrive in unexpected forms?
What I love about design is that inspiration can truly come from anywhere – from a feeling, from music, from your surroundings; the possibilities are endless. While working on some of our most recent collections, I was inspired in all kinds of ways: with the French song “L’encre de tes yeux” (“The Ink of Your Eyes”) by Francis Cabrel about memories of love expressed by a beloved partner, as well as simply with a photo I have of cherry blossoms taken at the backyard of an old friend’s house. Especially in the time of COVID-19, we’ve been made to pause and take stock of what is most important to us: our loved ones, our human relationships, touching, seeing faces, seeing smiles.

Weddings have taken on even more meaning, and I wanted to incorporate all of that feeling in our gowns. Imagine you are wearing your grandmother’s earrings or a bracelet that your mother gave to you when you were a child, or scenes of a new city that you and your beloved visited together for the first time… these small but very meaningful moments are what I tried to reflect in our designs.

For summer 2022, which designs across all three collections are proving popular? Why do you think this is?
Enzoani and Blue by Enzoani brides are currently loving an ethereal A-line look and who can blame them! Riva and Olani are proving popular in store and online for their plunging V-necklines and exquisite beaded floral laces with modern details.
For an effortless, classic look, Alara from the 2022 collection is stealing brides’ hearts. A layer of intricate lace appliqués floats atop Chantilly lace, flowing effortlessly into a sheer train. Another plunging neckline with spaghetti straps, corseted bodice, and low back details complete the look.

How long in advance should Brides be looking to start their wedding dress journey?
We recommend that brides book appointments with our authorized Enzoani retail partners 12-18 months before their wedding date, as each of our gowns is made to order. To enjoy the experience to the fullest and avoid any potential stress related to shorter timelines, it is always better to allow yourself some extra time.
