Bridal Lingerie: What kind of lingerie for which dress?

Love is in the air!

The wedding season is in full swing and the bridal to-do list is long. Everything should be perfectly planned down to the smallest detail and optimally organized. Only one thing is forgotten in the middle of all the decorations, seating arrangements and menu planning: The bridal lingerie. At the last minute it’s off to the bridal shop or the lingerie retailer to find the right bra for the elaborate dress. BRIDAL TIMES is pleased to show the most beautiful lingerie for the wedding day and wedding night using the examples of the Di Lorenzo Lingerie and Cala by Ivette from Kleemeier.

Strapless dress & Strapless bra

A wedding dress is elegant, flatters the figure and makes the bride appear angelic. Perfect… But combined with lingerie with plastic straps? Please don’t. A strapless corsage or a strapless bra should be worn with a strapless dress – at best, seamlessly crafted from a smooth material so that it will not be visible among lightweight fabrics such as satin and silk. The strapless companion should have elastic bands in the cups and side panels so the bra will adhere better. For a heavy bosom, we recommend a Longline bra for more support.

Close fitting dress & Shapewear

At the New York International Bridal Week you can admire the most beautiful and precious wedding dresses. In 2018, the designers often send their models in skintight dresses on the catwalk. In order to have a great figure in a dress that leaves no room for concealment, one clearly requires a slim waist and an upright posture. But whoever wants to cheat by cutting down on a belly, slimming down the waist and making the rear end a bit tighter, one can put on shapewear. It’s up to the bride whether she puts on a body or bra with a high waist panty. For a straighter thighs are shapewear shorts are ideal.

Hippie Dress & Smooth Lingerie

Maxi dresses completely made of lace or with embroidery in the nostalgic Bohemian style of the seventies are just trendy. We advise the boho bride to have smooth underwear that does not show under the dress. Lingerie made of lace and tulle with flounces and ruffles unfortunately pushes through the thin fabric of the dress and causes too many wrinkles – which obviously doesn’t look very elegant.

Deep V-neck & Nothing Underneath

Deep cutouts on the chest and back are very seductive and playful. No wonder they are very popular again this year. Unfortunately, it is difficult to find the right lingerie. That’s why it would be best to do without the bra. Women with androgynous figure or little breasts can “afford” to go topless.

Extra Tip

If the bride is worried about sweating during her midsummer wedding, recommend plain cotton lingerie instead of lingerie made of synthetic fibers. Of course for her wedding night, the lingerie may be a bit fancier. Playsuits, negligees or transparent nightgowns are the perfect choice.
