With the new Green Wedding collection, Wilvorst brings fresh wind to the market. The company is completely committed to sustainability as the collection was presented for the first time at the Interbride in Düsseldorf. “We want to be able to provide people who live sustainably with the appropriate wedding suits as well,” says chief designer Jo Meurer. Meurer has seen an increase in demand, especially in larger cities.
The collection consists of four models with a sleek narrow cut fit. The classic two-button suits are available in light and dark blue as well as in two sand-colored tones in casual vintage chic style. Matching colored suits are also available to accompany the overall look.
“The outer material of the suit is 100 percent pure wool. The buttons are made of tagua nut, “says Meurer. It is a fruit that grows in South America. The shell is grounded, then heated and pressed into a round stick form. “The knobs are then cut and trimmed from the round stick,” explains the designer. The lining of the collection is made of viscose. According to Wilvorst, the suits are produced in Germany and the European Union at fair wages.

The design itself also focuses on sustainability. “The suits are a timeless cut,” explains Meurer. “Even after the wedding, the groom can easily wear the suit to other occasions. Even a casual combination with jeans is very well conceivable.” When it comes to color, Meurer has opted for an environmentally friendly version. “We only use materials from Italy that are treated with azo-free dyes.”
The company focuses on killing two birds with one stone. “We produce in Germany and the EU and use wherever possible materials from South America. In this way, this allows us to create short transport routes,” Meurer says, while confidently entering the season. “We’ve already got so much positive feedback at the Interbride. From autumn 2018, our new line will be available in selected stores.”
