The wedding cape has been a hit amongst designers for many seasons, adding a glamourous “Superwoman” effect to any wedding gown. It’s the perfect alternative for brides who aren’t interested in wearing a veil and adds that extra layer of coverage for Fall and Winter weddings.
Bridal Times had the chance to catch up with the Jesus Peiro design team to tells us more about their “Wow-Factor” capes and what we can expect from the current collection.
Capes are a dominating wedding trend for 2019. Why do you believe it’s such a favorite piece in bridal fashion?
Since capes are garments that add a perfect touch of sophistication and elegance to compliment the dress, they also solve the specific problems such as the cold weather. They cover the shoulders and bring the look into a whole new level
Tell us about the Jesus Peiro wedding capes and the kinds of materials used for your creations?
This season we truly stressed the boutique concept because we have seen, and believe, that its important that every bride styles her own dress. That is why we have expanded our textile accessories collection. We have also developed different types of length, volumes and a multitude of fabrics such as mikado, crêpe- either light or heavy, embroidered tull with sequins and sparkles, angora, cotton or lurex knitwear.

How does your team stay innovative with this special accessory?
The design team always keeps up to date with the current trends. First, every centimeter of the pattern has to be exactly right. It’s important to make sure that the fabrics go well together, that we sue the correct finishes and that every element is positioned in the right way. Nothing is done haphazardly.

Are Jesus Peiro capes designed to keep brides warm during the fall and winter season?
The collection contains different types of natural layers to use as cover-ups, such as crêpe or mikado, but also tull or any kind of knitwear.

Can you tell us about a favorite wedding gown and cape combination?
Our favorite combination is a cape with a silk organza blouse with a pair of crêpe palazzo trousers.
Jesus Peiro also specially makes capes for brides. Can you tell us about the process and how far in advance before the wedding date brides should in plan?
It’s key to choose the right model, as our collection offers a winde selection that fits different styles once chosen, and depending on that particular design, the order is placed ideally a couple of months before the date.

What is your advice to brides on choosing the right cape?
It’s essential that the fabric goes well with the dress since it has to compliment it. Plus, the length should aslo always supplement the train of the skirt.
What has been the response from retailers from the Jesus Peiro capes?
The reception has been overwhelming, both from our customers and our brides. Our Instagram is proof of that!
What are some other options from the Jesus Peiro collection to stay warm this fall?
In the collection you can find other models such as capes with sleeves, jackets, bolerso, cashmere pashminas, coats, blazers, and so on.

When is the next opportunity to view the Jesus Peiro collection?
This September marks the start of our new press campaign, photographed here in Barcelona by a fantastic team. We also organize several trunk shows in Italy, the U.K., Germany, and the U.S. where on different dates you can not only see but purchase from our collections.
