The very first online presentation of the Austrian Wedding Award was presented with more than 500 viewers behind their screens.
On the 25th of January, 2021, an estimated 90 wedding industry professionals switched out their sweatpants for a chic outfit to take part in the “And the Winner is …” event. The coveted awards of the Austrian Wedding Awards were presented for the 6th time, and for the first time in a live stream event.
After a turbulent 2020, the wedding industry started the new year with a lot of optimism and hope with the presentation of the Austrian Wedding Awards. Every year the most creative minds in the country are brought to the stage and honored for their outstanding performance.
Not only did the finalists switch out their outfits, but also the way the ceremony is normally held. The two organizers Bianca Lehrner & Susanne Hummel agreed from the start that the award ceremony had to take place no mater what. “We definitely wanted to send a sign of solidarity and optimism,”said Lehrner. The historical ambience of the awards show in Vienna turned into a well-equipped award studio from Concept Solutions. “We are pleased to have had the award in our house. Event streaming still has a great future ahead and we are already well prepared for it,” said Florian Weber, Managing Director of Concept Solutions.
The live stream event was also a new experience for the jury who previously tested negative for Covid 19, and carried on with the show without an audience or personal contact. The winners were also brought into the studio virtually.
Sensational Victory
The result of the newly introduced category “Corona Wedding – Marriage under Special Circumstances” was surprising. Austrian Wedding Planners, Verena Wächter of “One Day Events” and Kamelia Wiesinger “Blooments” submitted the same wedding independently of each other and thus achieved the double victory. The results of the Austrian Federal State, Styria are also impressive, placing in the top 3 with 27 projects with 10 times!

- 5 national and 2 international jurors gave their evaluation for over 600 projects in 31 categories from all over Austria.
- This year’s honorary award went to the retired, Lower Austrian Registrar Monika Proprenter, who was recognized for her life’s work.
- The category “Corona Wedding | Marriage in special circumstances ”has been introduced as a new category.
- In addition to the work from the previous season, projects from previous years were also allowed to be submitted under the motto “Work of my Life”.
- The AWA “Club of Excellence” consists of all winners from previous years and comprises more than 120 service providers.
- In addition to the jury, the “Styled Shoot Team” category was also assessed by the audience in an online voting. Almost 10,000 votes were cast this year!
