5 Reason Why Brides Should Not Give Up on Their Dream Wedding Dress

Weddings in 2021 have been scaled down, postponed and even cancelled due to the pandemic. But that doesn’t mean that brides should give up on the wedding dress of their dreams.

On the contrary, we spoke to 5 bridal industry professionals who gave us reasons why brides should still get the wedding day look they have always dreamed of, and how different styles can be a perfect choice for a smaller, intimate wedding. You might just be pleasantly surprised at what they have to say…

“The Smaller the Wedding, the Bigger Budget for a Dress”

EddyK Fleur Gown

To their delight, the beloved Italian EddyK brand, has recently reported that brides have chosen to go BIG on their wedding day even through their celebrations were scaled down to the backyards of their own homes. The idea is, “The smaller wedding, the bigger budget is for a dress”, as brides are not letting COVID stand in the way of their dream dress.

Addy K, CEO of EddyK adds, “Most girls have dreamed of their wedding day since they were little girls and of the main elements of that dream is the dress! It is still HER day and just because the circumstances don’t allow a bride to have the wedding she wanted, it doesn’t mean she should tone down what she would’ve worn on her big day. Whether it be lace, beading, sequins or sparkle, just go with it! The pictures and memories will last forever.”

“No compromises”

Modeca Collection 2022, Natalee Gown

Dick van Zutphen, Director and Owner of Modeca Europe B.V. tells us that no compromises should be made when it comes to the most important dress in a woman’s life. Dick van Zutphen tells us, “I can clearly state that whatever happens, love will always come first. I am therefore firmly convinced that weddings will not only continue to take place, but will even increase in the coming months as soon as the overall situation slowly but surely relaxes. Maybe weddings will not be huge right now, but the people who are in love will say yes to each other because they want to go through life together. Especially if they concentrate on the essential things in life here, because we all know: Love is not canceled.

“And just like one should never give up on love in the same way, a bride should never give up on the desire to marry in exactly the same dress that she has always dreamed of as a child. The wedding day should be perfect, whether it be a big wedding or just a micro wedding. As the Director of Modeca Bridal, it is also a priority for us to be able to fulfill the wishes of every bride and we are working on that. We offer a large portfolio of current collections whose wedding dresses can now also be delivered to retailers at short notice. ”

“If, as a bride, you dream of getting married in a certain dress, then you shouldn’t let that dissuade you. You can’t make any compromises with a wedding dress, because it is the most important dress in a woman’s life that you only wear once. ”

“Wedding Dress in a Suitcase”

Marylise “Curious” Two-Piece

Destination weddings are known to be intimate occasions celebrated with the very closest of family members. And nothing sounds better than being able to effortlessly pack your wedding dress in suitcase and whisk away on a dream vacation destination. Known for their effortless elegance and casual grace, Belgian wedding dress brand Marylise and Rembo Styling, knows how versatile a destination bride can be.

Chiara De Vlieger of Marylise and Rembo Styling says, “Choosing simple and flawless for your destination wedding means holding on to the beauty of your surroundings! Sunset in a vineyard or at the beach, a countryside get-away…  we love how versatile a two-piece wedding dress can look in these settings, and Curious is the perfect element! With its unique balloon sleeves and contemporary lines, you can look playful and flirty, yet full of appealing details. Let’s enjoy the moment!”

Besides providing the perfect selections for destination brides, the brand has also recently extended their line with the launch of “Civil Collection” for city hall wedding day occasions.

“Staying True to Tradition”

Salome Sommer Hochzeiktsdirndl

For brides who are planning on getting married in Bavaria or Austria, going traditional is very much a dream option for a civil or smaller wedding. Sarah Tack, the designer known from the German television version of “Say Yes to the Dress” and entrepreneur of  Dirndl Liebe in Munich tells us why going traditional is a perfect solution on a bride’s wedding day.

“This year, many brides are unsure how they should plan their wedding. Most newlyweds plan small and more exclusive wedding celebrations, and a wedding dirndl is absolutely perfect for the new microwedding trend.

“The handcrafted wedding dirndls from our collection make every bride’s heart just melt. Each dirndl is unique with lace and glitter applications and is an eye-catcher, so the bridal dirndl is in no way inferior to a wedding dress. The bodice is covered with lace, rhinestone braids to round off the look, and a lace apron which completes the bridal look. ”

“Long, detachable overskirts quickly transform a classic dirndl into a dirndl wedding dress. On a brides’s big day, she can really conjure up a dirndl wedding dress from a classic dirndl. This two-in-one solution is only available from Dirndl Liebe. ”

“We reacted confidently to the Corona crisis and expanded the ready-to-wear wedding collection so that the bride can take her dream dirndl with her. Very shortly before the wedding, the bride has the opportunity to choose her wedding dirndl in the boutique in Munich and does not have to compromise with a dirndl bought online. ”

“So that the bride and groom look great when they say YES, the groom can also have Dirndl Liebe jackets, vests, lederhosen that can be color-coordinated with the bride. Whether it be a colored bridal dirndl or all in white, the Dirndl Liebe Boutique leaves everything open to imagination.”

“Always in Trend with Bridal Fashion”

Lastly, bridal stylist Stella Rockstroh from Princess Dreams Bridal Boutique in Berlin tells us why newly engaged brides should waste no time in setting up their bridal appointments and to completely throw out the notion that their wedding dress will be “out of style” by next year.

“Planning a wedding in the situation is anything but easy. That is why many newlyweds consider celebrating their wedding smaller or postponing it entirely. Completely understandable – no question about it. Unfortunately, many brides make the mistake of waiting with the wedding dress search until the final plans have been made. We would like to advise against this, because deliveries of wedding dresses are and will remain long. Up to 6 months are not uncommon. If the corona regulations are relaxed and you are allowed to celebrate,  you will be without a dress in the worst case scenario, or have to be content with an alternative that is still in stock. However, if you bought your dress in advance, the worst that can happen is that it stays in the closet a little longer.”

Stella Rockstroh of Princess Dreams

Stelle also adds, “The fear that the wedding dress could then be out of fashion is understandable but is unfounded. The trends in the world of bridal fashion change extremely slow as lace, glitter and high-quality materials are always in season. Many gowns even stay “in” for more than one wedding season and enjoy consistent popularity. In addition, a bride seldom decides on HER dream dress according to the standard “trend”, but usually makes a heart decision. This emotion is extremely strong and in no way changes with a new trendy style. Even if the wedding turns out smaller than planned – you can and should still wear your personal dream dress! If not for the wedding, then when?”

On the behalf of Bridal Times, we would like to thank everyone who contributed their valuable viewpoints.
