Once again the Bridal Event Amsterdam 2020 proved to be an absolute success. With hundreds of bridal shops in attendance from all over Europe and even as far as Australia, South Africa and the USA, visitors got the opportunity to view the brand new collections from Modeca Bridal, Randi Fenoli Bridal, Herve Paris, the new label Libelle, along with Poirier and Abrazi joining the event.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Bridal Times had the great pleasure to sit down with Alden Misolas, Head of Design from Modeca Bridal to tell us more about the inspiration behind 2021 collections from the Modeca Bridal portfolio.<\/p>\n

What was your approach to creating the new designs for the 2021 collections?<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the beginning, I get the impulse and inspiration to create through the feedback from the clients themselves. There are a lot of transparent pieces in the collection, so I give them ideas and options to add linings in the body which can really change the look of the creation. The response for the 2021 collection has been very positive, so when I interact with clients that gives me an insight of how I can make the next collection even better than before.<\/p>\n

The Modeca Collection is still the flagship collection of Dutch bridal house Modeca. If you could describe the Modeca Collection in 3 words, what would it be?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Well, it\u2019s a bit difficult to narrow it down since the collection is very diverse for every bride. As you know, we are working with so many different countries in the world and each country has their own style. Some gowns have a more classic look, some with more lace or some that are more simple. There are many different types of dresses and looks that you can find the Modeca Collection.<\/p>\n

Taking a look at all collections under the \u201cModeca umbrella\u201d, what would you say are some stunning features of the collection?<\/strong><\/p>\n

My personal favorite are the series of plain crepe dresses from the Le Papillon by Modeca collection which have pearls with several splits on the dress and we attached the splits with small pearl buttons. I think people still love to see the creativity in a wedding dress and you still need to have something new and innovative rather than a standard wedding dress. Simple and plain dresses are more my style, so I just play with different cuts of the dresses and I add details that make the gowns very special.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Puff sleeves are coming back in bridal fashion. How did you decide to incorporate this look in the Le Papillon by Modeca collection?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Of course we stay on top on the very latest in bridal fashion and what the brands are buying, but there are also brides with certain religions and have difficulty finding dresses that cover their arms and neckline. So I thought, why don\u2019t we create a gown which has all of these elements which shows a little bit of skin, but when you see it, it\u2019s actually covering every part of the body. You can still see that it\u2019s very much a part of the Le Papillon by Modeca line as well as of the Modeca Collection but with more coverage in relation to Dutch Couture.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

What are some aspects you consider when designing the curvy line? What can brides expect from the Curves by Modeca collection?<\/strong><\/p>\n

My goal is to give curvy brides the same gowns as girls who choose from our Modeca Collection and Le Papillon by Modeca line, when it comes to the look and feel and fashion-forward designs. I think curvy brides deserve the same types of dresses as all other brides. You simply have to understand what their concerns are and incorporate them into your design but at the same time, \u00a0giving them the same look and styles as in other collections. I simply want to make them feel beautiful with curves.<\/p>\n

What can you tell us about Jazz by Modeca, the separates collection? Have any new pieces been added?<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are seeing a good development in the Jazz by Modeca collection. We are now on our 4th<\/sup> season of the collection and in the beginning we opted for a combination of skirts and tops, and a few bodies with some transparent tops. So then I thought further, why don\u2019t we just go with plain dresses and develop new tops. When worn together, it looks like one dress. The bride can wear the two pieces in the morning for the wedding ceremony and in the evening have a nice, simple, sexy wedding dress with a few accessories such as a belt and jewelry. You can mix and match it all and create endless combinations with these pieces, so it\u2019s a lot fun.<\/p>\n

\"\"As a wedding gown designer, what do you think are the most important elements that make the \u201cideal\u201d wedding dress?<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of my goals for each bride is to make the gowns comfortable to wear from the beginning until the end of their wedding day. They should have the feeling that they simply gliding over the ground\u2026
\nTherefore, the weight of the gown should not be heavy and one thing that I am a firm believer in, \u201cless is more\u201d.<\/p>\n
