For the third time in a row, Germany\u2019s leading provider of personalized invitations and Thank-You cards \u201cKartenmacherei.de\u201d examined the preferences and behavior of Germans all over the country in an annual wedding statistic, “So heiratet Deutschland\u201d. The results of the 1,584 people surveyed were evaluated according to regional, gender-specific and age-specific differences.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The main study is provided only in the German language but Bridal Times is pleased to give you a glimpse into the results!<\/p>\n

Meeting for the First Time: Older couples get to know each other online<\/strong><\/p>\n

How couples get to know each other depends on age. While younger people usually get to know each other through friends, an increasing number of interviewees find their partner online or via a dating app. Thus, 29 percent of under-30’s get to know each other through their circle of friends, whereas individuals over 50, only 19 percent. Instead, 27 percent of the over-50’s find their wedding partner via the Internet or via a dating app. This is the highest percentage among all age groups.<\/p>\n

The Big Day: Large weddings are back in popularity<\/strong><\/p>\n

While there was a clear trend towards small wedding celebrations in 2018, more guests will be celebrating again in 2019. The majority of couples (26 percent) invite 26 to 50 guests, a further 25 percent celebrate with 51 to 75 guests and almost another quarter (22 percent) even with 76 to 100 guests. 15 percent celebrate big, they receive over 100 guests for the wedding.<\/p>\n

Costs: Food and drinks are the biggest cost factor<\/strong><\/p>\n

Most wedding couples (26 percent) spend from 5,000 to 10,000 euros on their wedding, and another 25 percent invest 10,000 to 15,000 euros into their wedding. 21 percent of couples let their wedding party costs reach up to over 15,000 euros. The biggest cost factor is food and drinks: Most of the respondents (32 percent) spend more than 5,000 euros for the well-being of their guests. For the bridal gown and suit 500 and 2,000 is invested on average.<\/p>\n
