Ms. Kaldasch, what expectations do fuller brides have when coming into a bridal boutique ?<\/strong><\/p>\n

All brides have the desire to finally find the right dress. Many women have already had an odyssey of unsuccessful experiences at various bridal studios. Often, the focus is then no longer on the dress being exceptionally pretty, rather that it fits well.<\/p>\n

That sounds pretty frustrating.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Absolutely. And this is where I see the opportunity to specialize in Plus Size in the bridal fashion segment. The brides need advice and appreciate it very much. When they come to our shop, they are overwhelmed by the wide range of dresses up to sizes 62\/64. They then get involved in a consultation and find the courage to try different styles.<\/p>\n

What are some common problems mentioned during an appointment?<\/strong><\/p>\n

No one plus size bride is alike! The advice must be very individual and tailored to the personality and figure of the woman. Some women have a problem with their arms and need sleeves on the dress. It is important to find out the reason for this request: Does the customer have, for example, scars on her arm that she wants to hide? Or do her arms, in her opinion, not correspond to the ideal of what beauty in our society should be? The same goes for a number of other parts of the body – the chest, stomach, rear end and legs. Many women would like to shape and conceal. Brides often see themselves as a “problem case”. I can not agree to that. There is the right dress for every bride. You only have to keep your eyes and ears open, and read between the lines to see what her dream dress should look like.<\/p>\n

What is important for a successful consultation?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Where does good advice begin and where does it end? With us, it starts with the first phone call and ends on the day of the wedding. I think it is important to have empathy and have a feel for things. But most important is honesty. I tell my brides if the dress they have chosen is not suitable for them. I give them the opportunity to try on all styles, to find themselves and the dream dress in which the bride is best reflected.<\/p>\n

How do you help build the self-confidence of a bride with lower self-esteem?<\/strong><\/p>\n

First of all, you should make sure that the bride feels good. That starts with the greeting. How do I approach the bride, what do I think when I first see her? I receive them with the feeling “You are in the right place here, feel comfortable and enjoy your time.” Or if the case arises, I give her very subtle cues to communicate that I don\u2019t have the right dress for her in the assortment.<\/p>\n

Many curvy women are very sensitive and sense immediately whether one can build up a basis for mutual trust. This is the most important thing to finding the dream dress together.<\/p>\n

How will things continue in the changing room?<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the dressing room, I see my brides half-undressed and I notice immediately if they are not comfortable with themselves. In these situations, it is important to ask questions carefully and not just to be a consultant, but also to become a friend who she can trust and confide in.<\/p>\n

When I meet the bride in the fitting room, I see her with different eyes than she may see herself. I give her my full attention, listen to her and give her encouragement.<\/p>\n

Quite often, I have had a shy ducklings come into my studio, and after our time together, walk out with her head held high like a proud swan.<\/p>\n

Which bridal gowns are most flattering on full-bodied women?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Many say that the A-line is the perfect cut for a curvy bride.<\/p>\n

I am not always of the same opinion. The advantage of an A line is that it is sold very quickly because it tends to work on just about any bride without too much attention having to be given to fit. But it\u2019s not one size fits all.<\/p>\n

Many sellers say that horizontal gathering over the abdomen and hip has a slimming effect. But, if the proportions of the bride are different, this gathering can have the opposite effect.<\/p>\n

Many curvy brides still have a narrow waist. Why not emphasize that, maybe even in a Duchesse-style dress? Here, the upper body is highlighted and small problems on the hips and legs are cleverly concealed. It does not have to be the princess, but a Fit & Flare, even a Mermaid style, can be wonderful with the right proportions – and very sexy.<\/p>\n

The one truly important thing is that the bride needs to feel good in her dress. In which dress can she be herself? The bride and consultant can find out together.<\/p>\n

What are some good labels for Plus Size wedding dresses?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Many manufacturers now offer the possibility to make any dress in size xyz, but usually only a few cm are added to the small sizes. But then the fit just isn\u2019t right.
\nFor our studio, we only have a few suppliers from whom we source our Plus Size models. Among them are Kleemeier, TresChic, Miss Kelly and the wonderful “Beautiful Brides +” line from Special Day.<\/p>\n

Do you recommend other bridal shops to also sell dresses in larger sizes?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Certainly it is an asset to any typical bridal studio.<\/p>\n

Many have already switched and offer large sizes in addition to the normal confection sizes. Due to popular TV shows, the bridal studios selling big names labels are popping up everywhere. The consultants should definitely be able to engage with a curvy bride and identify with her and her concerns.<\/p>\n
