With many years of designing experience, Riccardo Serravalle<\/strong> burst out into the bridal scene with his very own Serravalle\u00a0 brand, and graced the international runway with his collections at the Barcelona Bridal Week 2023 only 1 and half year’s later. <\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Bridal Times had the chance to catch up with designer Riccardo Serravalle<\/strong> to talk about how his young brand is evolving and what brides and boutiques are loving from his collection at the moment.<\/p>\n

Riccardo, first we have to ask: What gets your creativity going when it comes to designing bridal gowns?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I remember when I was designing my first collection \u201cMetaphysical<\/em>\u201d, it was like I had a preview or voice inside my head of what the collection was going to look like, what kind of materials, silhouettes and trends I wanted to incorporate. With the feeling of the surroundings at that time with Covid restrictions, and leaving tthe Spanish brand I was designing for, the collection was really a \u201cRebirth\u201d. Not only a rebirth in who I am as a person, but also as a designer.<\/p>\n

I have been a designer and tailor since I was 19 years old, and I wanted to show a new phase and a modern approach to bridal through detailing, tailoring, originality, and quality through essential sustainable fabrics. And in fact we achieved this with our first collection. My family then asked me about incorporating more sparkle or more lace, but at that time, I felt that it was important to build a solid base first and then we can create more glamour as time goes along.<\/p>\n

What are some highlights brides are loving right now with the 2024 Collection?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The new 2024 \u201cCelestial<\/em>\u201d Collection is really a mix, but I would have to say one of the favorite highlights is \u201cTALA\u201d. It\u2019s a sweetheart, strapless gown adorned with a wrapped knot feature, a sexy high slit and comes with detachable sleeves. The gown takes the essence of our first collection but transformed into something new, elegant, feminine and sexy. We hadn\u2019t shown a style like this before, so it really is like an evolution.<\/p>\n

\u201cKAYLA\u201d is another romantic favorite which embraces an elegant, sleek look with a bit of subtle sparkle on a sweetheart neckline and bodice. Brides can also choose if they would like to add sleeves to change up their look.<\/p>\n

And we also have \u201cCELINE\u201d, which is kind of a sister of our \u201cLEILA\u201d dress, and this gown was the first dress opening the runway at Barcelona Bridal Week. The gown features the signature neckholder but with a totally different shape of skirt, material and back detailing.<\/p>\n

In the end, I am always trying to create a good mix for bridal shops and for brides as well. If bridal shops have parts of the 2023 collection and new orders for 2024, the collections look beautiful hanging harmoniously in bridal stores. Brides can also find detailing from the last collection in the new collection.<\/p>\n

As an emerging talent in the industry, how have you seen your collections evolving?<\/strong><\/p>\n

We started with the foundation and with a base, with the \u201cMetaphysical\u201d collection, which was like rebirth. We then transformed to the skies with the \u201cCelestial<\/em>\u201d by introducing more shimmer and sparkle, and we even introduced black gowns in our collection which had a huge impact on the runway this year. And for our third collection, we can finally say we can offer bridal shops everything.<\/p>\n

But starting from the beginning, I didn\u2019t want to be distracted by outside forces. Providing a full spectrum of a collection is more like a building block which takes time. For me as a designer, it was important to evolve, for the brand to evolve, and to go on this journey rather than rushing into anything.<\/p>\n

How has personally visiting clients strengthened your business relationship with your bridal shops?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I can recall when we first started and presented our collections at the “One Fine Day Bridal Market” in October of 2022 in New York, we started out with just a few bridal shops and now we have 4 times more in just one year. For me at this stage, it\u2019s super important to understand what my clients want and to keep our brides and stores satisfied. So I visit the shops, I personally deliver the dresses and from there I am able to get a better understanding of their bridal shops, of their assortments, what are their bestsellers and why, and how I can optimize our collection.<\/p>\n

What can retailers expect in the coming months?<\/strong><\/p>\n

We have decided for the very first time that will host an exclusive preview this coming October which will be kind of a \u201cCollection Line Review\u201d of the new pieces I have been working on in the last 6 months and to review our new 2025 collection. It\u2019s a chance for our clients to give us their input, which gives us enough time for adjustments and get ready for presentation next year. And for sure next year we will be in Essen at the European Bridal Week, since our main market is the DACH and Benelux Region, and of course we will be presenting at the Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2024.<\/p>\n

But I can tell you, our boutiques will see new things in our 2025 collection that they have never expected before. So I am very much looking forward to the response!<\/p>\n
